Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

No referral is needed to book an appointment with us. If you have a chronic condition and would like to explore a GP Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan for Medicare-rebated visits, that referral is arranged through your GP prior to your visit.

What happens at my first appointment?

Your first visit involves a discussion of your health history and current concerns, followed by an assessment of your posture, joint movement, and relevant musculoskeletal function. Based on your individual assessment, your chiropractor will discuss your findings with you and outline care options and what to expect, so you can make an informed decision about your care. Find out more on our New Patient page

What should I wear or bring to my appointment?

Loose, comfortable clothing is recommended, similar to what you'd wear to the gym, as this allows for ease of movement during your assessment. If you have any relevant scans, X-rays, or specialist reports, please bring these along.

Is chiropractic care safe?

Chiropractic care is a regulated allied health profession in Australia. As with any healthcare intervention, individual responses vary, and your chiropractor will discuss your individual circumstances, any relevant risks, and what to expect as part of your assessment and care plan.

Does an adjustment hurt?

Most patients find chiropractic adjustments comfortable. Some people notice mild, short-term soreness afterward, similar to what can follow other physical therapies. Your chiropractor will always explain what to expect and adjust their approach to your comfort level — this may include low-force or manual adjusting techniques, depending on what suits you best.

Do you see babies and children?

Yes. Our team, including Dr Luke Allen who holds a postgraduate qualification in chiropractic paediatrics, provides care for babies and children with a focus on musculoskeletal and movement-related concerns. Care is gentle and tailored to the child's age and stage of development, and we're happy to discuss what this involves before any treatment begins.

How many visits will I need?

This depends on your individual presentation, history, and goals, and will be discussed with you as part of your care plan. Some people attend for a short course of care, while others choose ongoing or periodic visits — your chiropractor will talk you through the options so you can decide what's right for you.

Do you treat sports injuries and pregnancy-related discomfort?

Our chiropractors see a broad range of musculoskeletal presentations, including activity and sports-related strains, and pregnancy-related postural and joint discomfort. As always, care is based on an individual assessment of your presentation and goals.

What conditions can chiropractic care help with?

Chiropractic care may help with a range of musculoskeletal concerns, including back pain, neck discomfort, headaches, postural strain, and joint mobility issues. Whether chiropractic care is appropriate for your particular situation is something we'll discuss with you following an individual assessment.

Do you offer Medicare or health fund rebates?

Chiropractic care may be eligible for a rebate through private health funds, depending on your level of cover — we recommend checking with your fund directly. Medicare rebates may be available under a GP Chronic Disease Management plan for eligible patients; your GP can advise if you qualify.
